(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) KUWAIT, May 23 (KUNA) -- His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, accompanied by His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Vice President of the National Guard Sheikh Mashaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, visited the Headquarters of Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD) on Wednesday evening.
They were welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Anas Al-Saleh and KFSD Director General Lt.-Gen. Khaled Rakan Al-Mekrad as well as a number of other senior officials.
Addressing a function at the Directorate on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, His Highness the Amir said: "It is a pleasure for me and my brothers His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, His Highness the Vice President of the National Guard Sheikh Mashaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah to meet you on this annual tradition to exchange the greetings of the holy month of Ramadan.
"Your dedication and selfless devotion to your job which is fraught with dangers as well as the self-sacrificing you show while protecting the safety of life and property are held in high-esteem by everybody.
"You always prove that you are capable of shouldering your responsibilities and live up to the trust placed in you. The development of the various sectors of the Directorate testify to the keenness of its leaders on keeping abreast with the latest developments in the field of fire fighting in terms of provision of modern equipment and building the capacity of its personnel through regular training programs.
"We highly appreciate the efforts of the Directorate to promptly respond to fire accidents and promote awareness about basic safety rules through mass media, and direct and indirect contact with the society.
"We pray for Allah Almighty to grant you success, preserve the safety of the homeland and lodge the martyrs in paradise. Thank you. Peace be upon you." On his part, KFSD Director General Lt.-Gen. Al-Mekrad said it is a great honor for the Directorate to be visited by His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince, His Highness the Vice President of the National Guard and His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh. He reaffirmed the commitment of the leaders and personnel of the Directorate to continuing the modernization of its operating system under the vision of the government for new Kuwait.
KFSD will further enhance the quality of its services through introducing the ISO standards in collaboration with other state boding notably Kuwait Municipality, Lt.-Gen. Al-Mekrad added.
He reviewed the achievements made by the Directorate in issuing licenses for new building in a record time and fines for irregularities that pose threats life and property. (end) gb
