(MENAFN- Asia Times) The central government will take measures to accelerate the rejuvenation of the dairy industry and ensure the quality and safety of dairy products, according to the State Council executive meeting hosted by Premier Li Keqiang on Wednesday, Xinhua news agency reported.
The meeting put forward a goal of striving to significantly improve the quality, competitiveness and reputation of domestic infant formula milk powder within three years.
First, the government plans to vigorously introduce and breed good-quality dairy cows and build a national core breeding farm, as well as strengthen the production of high-quality forage material.
Second, to tighten quality and safety supervision, revise and improve national standards for raw milk and sterilized milk, and establish a quality traceability system throughout the entire process.
Third, to provide the dairy industry with supports, including financial insurance and land supply.
