Economy Ministry conducts inspection campaigns on commercial activities


(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The surprise inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) at a number of shops and restaurants in different areas, resulted in nine violations varied between the practice of activities not mentioned in the licence, the expiry of the commercial licence, the conduct of a business without licence, the existence of irregularities in the general and special requirements of the shops, and the failure to comply with the sanitary conditions in the restaurants.
The ministry noted that the infringing shops have been ordered to modify their status in the licences and commercial records.
The ministry said that its inspection campaigns are aimed at monitoring the commitment of shops and restaurants to the laws and regulations governing the conduct of commercial activities and as part of its initiatives launched on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan under the slogan 'less than duty.
The ministry has intensified the inspection campaigns before and during the holy month as part of its keenness to regulate and monitor the markets and commercial activities in Qatar as well as monitor compliance with the laws and regulations governing the conduct of commercial activities in order to detect violations and protect the rights of consumers.
The ministry urged all merchants and shopkeepers to adhere to the laws and regulations governing the conduct of commercial activities and called on all merchants and shop owners to familiarise themselves with the laws and regulations governing the conduct of commercial activities by visiting the website of the Ministry of Economy and Commerce - www.mec.gov.qa to avoid being exposed to legal liability and violation.
The ministry also urged all citizens and residents to report any violations or irregularities related to registration and commercial licences through the ministry's communication
