He said converting Islamic calligraphy and colours of Pakhtun culture on the wood art is not only his passion, but the source of income as well.
He said preparation of a single art piece takes eight to 10 days. He said he puts in a lot of efforts in creation of the wooden art pieces, however, he manages to earn only Rs20,000 per month. He said the art is on the decline due to lack of government patronage. He said he may leave this profession as it is becoming impossible for him to look after his family with meagre resources.
Nasir called upon the government to set up a display centre for artists in Swat to promote their talent. He said the display centre will not only serve as a platform for artists, but will also help in promotion of tourism in Swat region.
