Emil Ranjan and Rangajeewa further remanded over Welikada riots


(MENAFN- Colombo Gazette) width="165" height="111" data-recalc-dims="1" />Former Prisons Commissioner Emil Ranjan and Inspector of Police (IP) Neomal Rangajeewa, who were arrested over the 2012 Welikada Prison riot, have been further remanded.

The Colombo Magistrate's Court ordered that Emil Ranjan and Neomal Rangajeewa, who were remanded until today, to be further remanded till June 5th.

Emil Ranjan and Neomal Rangajeewa had been arrested over the 2012 Welikada Prison clashes in which several inmates were killed.

Investigators are attempting to uncover who gave orders to kill the inmates during the riot. (Colombo Gazette)
