Ukrainian president signs law on support for domestic shipbuilding

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko has signed the law on support for Ukrainian shipbuilding.

The documents were signed during a speech by the head of state at the Nibulon plant in Mykolaiv on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"Today I am signing the law on support for shipbuilding in Ukraine. This law introduces amendments to the Customs Code for the preservation and development of the domestic shipbuilding industry," Poroshenko said.

In addition, he signed a motion for the submission to the Verkhovna Rada of a bill on ratification of an agreement with the European Investment Bank for a total of 300 million euros for the development of railway infrastructure in Mykolaiv region.

According to the president, this project involves the modernization of the railroad on the Dolynska-Mykolaiv-Kolosivka route.

The head of state stressed that the implementation of the project with the EIB would help increase the speed of trains and the throughput of the railway.

On March 13, the Verkhovna Rada adopted law No. 6475 introducing amendments to the Customs Code of Ukraine (regarding the preservation and development of the domestic shipbuilding industry). The law extends the maximum term for the processing of goods imported into Ukraine by enterprises of the shipbuilding industry from one to two years.
