2018 World Cup: Argentina's Sergio Romero ruled out over injury

(MENAFN) Manchester United goalkeeper Sergio Romero was announced to be missing the World Cup in Russia due to a knee injury.

The Argentine Football Association (AFA) declared Tigres' Nahuel Guzman to be placing instead of Romero after he suffered the injury during his training with the Argentine national club.

In its statement, AFA declared "Sergio Romero suffered today a joint blockage in his right knee that will leave him out of the squad."

It comes as Argentina gets ready to launch its World Cup campaign against Iceland on June 16 ahead of group games against Croatia and Nigeria.
