(MENAFN) Kumho Tire Co. said Wednesday it will supply its treads to Volkswagen Group for its Atlas sport utility vehicle.
Kumho Tire's Crugen premium tire (KL33) products will be installed in the SUV, which boasts seven seats and a 3.6-liter gasoline engine.
According to the company, the KL33 original equipment (OE) tires will be built in Korea and shipped to the German carmaker's Chattanooga plant in Tennessee where the Atlas SUV has been made since November 2016.
OE tires are those a carmaker chooses to include on its vehicles when they are new, as tire companies don't earn much money for supplying OE tires, but doing so drives up their brand image among consumers.
