Oman- MEDC achieves 91.8% meter reading in 2017


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Muscat Electricity Distribution Company (MEDC), a member of Nama Group, achieved 91.8 per cent of the electricity meter reading for Muscat governorate customers during 2017. The company covered 363,000 customers by the end of the year.

It was obtained after changing the operating model for meter reading and billing distribution, from one service provider to three service providers, who were assigned to different wilayats to diversify and increase focus on meter reading, stated a press release.

The company held a ceremony to recognise the companies contracted with to provide meter reading services and distribution of electricity bills at the Sundus Rotana in Seeb.

The company recognised meter readers, support staff and project managers in the three companies for their excellence and high performance.

Eng Abdullah bin Saeed al Badri, CEO of MEDC, highlighted the joint achievements of the company and the service providers during 2017, which contributed to overcoming the various challenges encountered in providing meter reading services and distribution of electricity bills. It consequently led to the increased customer satisfaction and reduced network loss.

Al Tawoos Company, which provides meter readings and billing services in Muscat, Muttrah, Amerat, and Quriyat bagged the best service provider award.

The National Electricity Centre, which provides the same service in the wilayat of Bausher, was awarded for the best occupational health and safety commitment.

Oman Investment & Finance Company was awarded for the best contribution to the success of implementing the new operational model.
