African Heritage Incorporated Celebrating Its 20th Anniversary With Special Events


(MENAFNEditorial) Events Include a Major Juneteenth Celebration In Appleton Appleton, WI - May 22, 2018 - African Heritage, Incorporated is celebrating its 20th year anniversary in June. The organization was formed in Appleton with a focus on Northeast Wisconsin communities. In its 20th year of providing a support system for Blacks, the organization has created and organized initiatives that have drawn over 12,000 people and are dedicated to the interests of Blacks and rooted in promoting clear and positive images of African Americans.

The 20th anniversary of the organization will be celebrated with many noteworthy events, including an awards brunch in June featuring seven Black women who have made noteworthy contributions to the community and the commemoration of the annual Juneteenth festival.

Celebrate Black Woman Brunch event will be held on June 9 at the Liberty Hall in Kimberly. It will honor seven great black women who will receive the Sistah Power Award. The distinguished honorees have made it their life mission toward working to improve the quality of lives of Blacks in Northeast Wisconsin and beyond. Tickets may be purchased online for $20.99; no tickets will be sold at the event.

The African Heritage, Inc. Juneteenth Celebration will also be held on June 10 at the City Park in Appleton. The event is free to the public and includes appearances from actress Angela Ray and MC Keith L. Brown, Mr. I'M Possible. Over thirty retail fashion and food vendors will be on site alongside many informational vendors providing information on what people can enjoy and utilize in the region. The Stone of Hope: Black Experiences in the Fox Cities, a traveling exhibit that features the experiences of Blacks in Appleton from the 1600s to this present time period will be on display. Live dance and music performances will also be held during the event.

Juneteenth is a significant holiday in the United States commemorating the end of slavery in the United States. The African Heritage, Incorporated Juneteenth Celebration is organized with the support of Kimberly Clark Corporation, Oshkosh Truck, Thrivent Financial, Goodwill Industries NCW, Walmart Corporation, Impactful Life Coaching and City of Appleton as our major sponsors along with the support of other businesses and organizations.
