Colombia issues evacuation over flood threat


(MENAFN) Colombian authorities have issued an immediate evacuation in the Department of Antioquia before a possible flood of the Cauca River in the area of the Hidroituango power station.

The threat of avalanche concerned municipalities of Valdivia, Caceres and Taraza, for the banks in the mighty river, one of the biggest in Colombia.

There had been water seeping through the right tunnel of the hydroelectric plant, the same one which sparked the flood before a week in the the town of Puerto Valdivia, according to Empresas Publicas de Medellin, leading the Hidroituango project.
