Kuwait's Equate receives first Leed Silver certification

(MENAFN) Kuwait's Equate Petrochemical Company was announced to have been granted a certification for the Leed-Silver Building Design & Construction (BD+C) for its new headquarters, turning into a green properties' pioneer country.

Equate's headquarter is the first Kuwait-based building to be given the Leed-Silver (BD+C) certification for its design and construction.

"From the initial design of this new headquarter, we set our sights on making a difference in the green building movement," Engineering & Construction Department director Sulaiman Albader stated.

The director added "our building conserves energy consumption through the reduction of water usage by 36 per cent, utilises solar energy to generate around 8 per cent of the total building consumption, and achieves energy cost savings of 26 per cent, all of which make it an ideal green building in Kuwait. This achievement and all others were realised through the performance excellence of our human capital who deserve utmost appreciation and gratitude."
