Ekta Kapoor's ALTBalaji has crossed 1 million paid subscribers mark

After achieving monumental success in the television and the film industry, Ekta Kapoor is now making waves in the digital arena as well.

Within a year of launch, her video on demand (VoD) platform ALTBalaji has garnered about 1.2 million paid subscribers.

The company recently stated that it hit the 1.2 million paid users mark at the end of March 2018.

The over-the-top (OTT) content provider witnessed remarkable growth.

Its revenue for the fiscal fourth-quarter was greater than the combined revenue of the first nine months.

ALTBalaji earned Rs. 3.6 crore for the quarter ended 31st March 2018, as compared to Rs. 1.1 crore in the third quarter.

Its total revenue currently stands at Rs. 6.8 crore.


The platform has 19 originals, thus far

ALTBalaji had launched 19 originals till April which are available in Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam as well. Some of its most loved shows are 'Karrle Tu Bhi Mohabbat', 'Haq Se', 'Test Case', 'Romil and Jugal' and 'Bose Dead/Alive'.


It is targeting 8 million paid subscribers by 2020
Future plan


Nachiket Pantvaidya, Group COO, Balaji Telefilms and CEO, ALTBalaji, told a publication, "Every month, we are witnessing an exponential rise in the minutes consumed. On an average, every user is spending 20-25 minutes of content per month on ALTBalaji."

"If we have 8 million subscribers by 2020 paying Rs. 20 each per month, we'll easily break even," he added.
