Alliance Air to start commercial flights from Arunachal tomorrow

Air India subsidiary Alliance Air's first commercial flight to Arunachal Pradesh is scheduled to take off from the Pasighat airport on Monday, the 21st of May.
The flight, which is scheduled to take off for Guwahati at 2pm, will mark the start of commercial flight services from Arunachal Pradesh - a remarkable and much awaited step in the Indian aviation sector.

Flight details
Alliance Air had already carried out a successful test landing on April 23.
The commercial flight services from Arunachal will operate along the Kolkata-Guwahati-Pasighat route and will operate to-and-fro three times a week - Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
Tickets for the inaugural flight has been priced at Rs. 4,619, while the return will cost Rs. 2,495.
July onwards, Pasighat-Guwahati will cost Rs. 1,645.
Pasighat will be the 50th airport serviced by Alliance Air
Operations
Alliance Air already services several hill stations including Shimla, Kulu, Kangra, Dehradun, and Pantnagar.
Pasighat will take the airline's serviced airports to 50.
Alliance Air currently has a fleet of 16 aircraft - fourteen 72-seater ATR 72-600 aircrafts, and two 46-seater ART-42 aircrafts.
Alliance Air carried 1.3 million passengers in 2017-18, and expects that number to increase to 1.8 million this year.
Infrastructural issues hold back flight operations in North East
Challenges
However, Alliance Air's operations in hill stations didn't come without its challenges.
While Alliance Air CEO CS Subbiah said that flying to hill stations is absolutely safe from a safety/risk point of view, he explained that challenges arise from infrastructural issues.
In the North East, issues such as conditions of roads to airports, taxi availability etc. all affect an airport's potential for commercial success.
