Jordan- Madrasati initiative, Ministry of Education launch the eTwinning Project

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency) Amman, May 20 (Petra)--Madrasati Initiative has signed a cooperation agreement with the EU Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA) to implement the eTwinning project in the Kingdom.

The agreement will see through a partnership between Madrasati initiative and the Ministry of Education. The project will be implemented in 52 public and private schools during the current academic year, covering most of the Kingdom's governorates.

The project was launched with three days of intensive workshops in February for participating teachers. The workshops focused on project-based learning.

Participating teachers also got the opportunity to share their success stories and their accomplishments in several local learning communities meetings, held in North, Central, and Southern regions of the Kingdom. Teachers who are part of the eTwinning Project received help in acquiring new skills, expanding their knowledge, as well as enhancing their collaboration skills and self-reliance, something that teachers expressed their gratitude for.

"What distinguish this project is the cultural variety, and the integration of technology and knowledge in an innovative way" commented Tala Sweis, the Director of Madrasati Initiative. "Today, modern technology has become a cornerstone in developing our educational system and enhancing the 21st Century Skills." She added. "The EU is committed to continue supporting the improvement of the quality of education in Jordan" Mr Andrea Matteo Fontana the European Union Ambassador also commented.

Mr. Nabeer Bostanji, MOE representative further explained that "eTwinning Project enhances teachers' capacity building and reveals their creativity, eTwinning is an opportunity to empower Jordan globally." The eTwinning Project is an interactive learning program targeting schools' teachers and students of all age groups, it aims at raising awareness and opening dialogue channels between European countries and the Arab World. By integrating this innovative technology into the learning process, youth and teachers in the Arab world and their peers in Europe meet over the eTwinning Platform. The platform is a highly secured website that facilitates learning about each other's cultures, discussing similarities and differences along the process. The project involves interactive online activities held by teachers and their students on both ends, breaking the traditional methods adding interactivity to the process of learning..

Madrasati Initiative is one of the many initiatives led by Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. It was launched in 2008 aiming at improving the educational environment in a number of Ministry of Education schools in Jordan. It does so by reforming the infrastructure of these schools and implementing a range of educational programs, student activities, and empowerment of teachers with quality learning tools to improve outcomes. Madrasati also empowers students with life skills necessary to open new horizons for their future, and to make a positive impact on their behavior and ensure sustainability.
