Africa seeks repatriation of stolen assets

(MENAFN) The UK was revealed to be one of the most countries to have stolen assets from African nations, with Nigeria and former British colonies in Africa pledging for change.

Nigeria and former British colonies declared their wish to cooperate in recovering billions of stolen assets in overseas accounts from London and other countries.

Chiefs of African anti-corruption agencies have gathered together at a regional meeting in Nigeria, exploring methods to overcome difficulties in the repatriation of stolen assets.

The anti-corruption representatives stated "concerned about the heavy losses that Africa suffers as a result of illegal transfers of proceeds of corruption and crime out of Africa."

The representatives then promised to "strengthen cooperation and partnership in the tracing, recovery and return of assets."
