Turkey sees fall in sale of real estate

In April 2018, the volume of real estate sales in Turkey decreased by 9.9 percent compared to the same period in 2017 to 103,807 units of real estate, the Institute of Statistics of Turkey (TUİK) said in a message.

During this period, 17,414 units of real estate were sold in Istanbul, 10,352 units of real estate - in Ankara, and 6,418 units of real estate - in Izmir.

"The remaining 69,623 units of real estate fall to the share of other Turkish cities," TUİK repotted.

During the reported period, in Turkey, 2,043 units of real estate were sold to foreigners, which is 25.8 percent more compared to the same month in 2017.

"In April 2018, foreigners purchased 676 units of real estate in Istanbul, and 475 units in Antalya, while the remaining 892 units acquired by foreigners fall to the share of other Turkish cities," the report reads.

In April 2018, Iraqi citizens purchased 377 units of real estate in Turkey, Saudi Arabia's citizens - 252 units and citizens of Russia - 112 units.

"The remaining 1,342 units of real estate fall to the share of citizens of other countries," according to the report.
