43 Taliban, 14 Afghan forces killed in Ghazni battles

(MENAFN - Pajhwok Afghan News) Dozens of Taliban militants and at least 14 security forces have been killed during clashes in southern Ghazni province, an official said Wednesday.

Mohammad Arif Noori, the governor€™s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the Taliban coordinately attacked Jaghatu, Andar, Zana Khan, Giro, Deh Yak and Gilan districts€™ security check-posts late on Tuesday night.

In the ensuing clashes, 14 security personnel and 43 insurgents were killed and 18 security forces and dozens of rebel fighters were wounded.

According to his information, the Jaghatu€™s district deputy police chief was among the killed.

Nasir Ahmad Faqiri, a provincial council (PC) member, confirmed the Taliban overran Jaghato district police station before torching the building.

But the governor€™s spokesman rejected his claim.

On the other hand, the Taliban, confirming their attacks through their spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid claimed killing dozens of security forces seizing their weapons.
