Early trends of Karnataka Election results have incumbent Chief Minister Siddaramaiah trailing from Chamundeshwari, but he is leading in Badami constituency.

Notably, at the time of writing, BJP was leading on 95 seats and Congress on 64 seats, while king maker JD(S) was leading on 33 seats.

Whether incumbent Congress Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will manage to come back in power will be known by afternoon, but his legacy has already been written in bold for becoming the first Karnataka CM in 40 years to complete his full term in CM's office.

He was sworn in to the leadership position on May 13, 2013.

Interestingly, a day after the Karnataka Assembly polls, CM Siddaramaiah had asserted that Congress would retain power in the state and also said this was his last election.

Speaking to reporters in Chamundeshwari constituency, one of the two seats from where he contested in the high-stakes polls along with Badami in North Karnataka, the Congress leader said, "This will be my last election."


Siddaramaiah on possibility of a Dalit Chief Minister

To a question on the possibility of a Dalit Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah said, "It is fine if the party decides to have a Dalit Chief Minister."

The Chief Minister also exuded confidence that the Congress would get an absolute majority in Karnataka and ruled out any possibility of a tie-up with the JD(S), led by former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda.
