Mumbai Indians down KXIP to stay alive in IPL 2018

Mumbai Indians notched their third victory in nine matches to stay alive in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018.

The holders in pursuit of 175 runs from 20 overs, surpassed the target in style.

Suryakumar Yadav scored another fifty, as Rohit Sharma and Krunal Pandya had impressive cameos.

Earlier, Chris Gayle struck a 40-ball 50 for KXIP.

This was KXIP's second successive defeat.

Suryakumar Yadav became the first batsman from MI to cross the 300-run mark.

He now has 340 to his name and is fourth in the highest runs list.

His 42-ball 57 was his third fifty. He is joint-second in the list of most fifties scored behind Williamson (4).

Suryakumar also registered his 38th four which is the second highest behind Delhi's Rishabh Pant (40).


Gayle lightens up IPL 2018 with another fifty

In five matches Gayle has played for KXIP, he has already smashed three fifties and one century. He is averaging at 100.66 and has a strike-rate of 154.08. Gayle has hit 25 maximums this season, which is the most by any player.

The KXIP openers have amassed 50+ partnerships in all five matches they have opened together.

The scores read 96, 53, 116, 55 and 54. That's a total of 374 runs at an average of 74.8.

Gayle has 302 runs from five innings, Rahul has 292 from eight innings.
