Amid haters, Trump has found a new friend in Kanye
26 Apr 2018

The Kanye West-Donald Trump Twitter bromance might be most controversial yet on the micro-blogging website.

At a time when trolling the American President has become the norm, the star rapper, in a series of tweets, expressed explicit support, calling real estate mogul a brother with the same "dragon energy" as him.

Of course, Twitter is having a field day and the meme-factory, working overtime.

To hell with opinions, disagreements. Kanye loves Trump
The tweets

It all started with Kanye tweeting on Wednesday: "You don't have to agree with Trump but the mob can't make me not love him. We're both dragon energy. He's my brother. I love everyone. I don't agree with everything anyone does. That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."

A day later, Trump replied: "Thank you Kanye, very cool!"

Not just this. Kanye posted several other pro-Trump tweets, including a photo of the President's red "Make American Great Again" cap, signed by Trump himself.

He slammed former President Barack Obama for inaction, saying: "Obama was in office for eight years and nothing in Chicago changed."

The 40-year-old also tweeted a photo of Trump and Tim Cook, saying: "2 of my favorite people."

The Kanye-Trump bromance has sent Twitter into a tizzy
Reaction

Twitter has had a meltdown. Some Kanye fans are angry at such show of allegiance towards a President known for all things wrong.

Echoing the popular sentiment, a user tweeted, "I miss the old Kanye", lines of one of his songs from his 2016 album, The Life of Pablo.

Several others, including actors Jordan Peele and Samuel L Jackson, couldn't help but troll him.

'Kanye's a free thinker, is that not allowed in America?'
Defense

Kim Kardashian-West, Kanye's superstar wife, sternly defended him in a series of tweets, slamming the trolls for poking fun at his mental health just because his opinion isn't popular.

"He's a free thinker, is that not allowed in America? Because some of his ideas differ from yours you have to throw in the mental health card? That's just not fair," she tweeted.

Kanye's love for Trump isn't new
Backstory

It's not like Kanye has recently started to like Donald Trump. He famously met him in December 2016 just after Trump had won the Presidential election.

He had explained the meeting, saying, "I feel it's important to have a direct line of communication with our future president if we truly want change."

He once abruptly ended a concert after ranting about voting for Trump.
