Taliban suffer heavy casualties in Parwan


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) CHARIKAR (Pajhwok): The Taliban militants on Wednesday suffered heavy causalities in clashes in various districts of central Parwan province, closing the Bamyan highway.

Col. Alozai Ahmadi, coordination commander at the police headquarters, told Pajhwok Afghan News 400 militants attacked Sia Gard, Shinwari and Shiekh Ali Dara Ghorband districts at 5am.

He did not provide details about the clashes but said the insurgents suffered heavy casualties. The corpses of two fighters were still lying at the battle scene, he added.

Noor Aqa, the Sia Gard district€™s administrative chief, said Taliban stormed various security posts and the Parwan-Bamyan highway remained closed for traffic. However, security forces are trying to reopen the highway.

The Taliban, meanwhile, confirmed clashes in the districts with security forces. Fighting was still ongoing in the areas, the movement said.
