Qatar's keenness on unity among countries, people stressed

Rabat: Speaker of the Advisory Council, H E Ahmed bin Abdullah bin Zaid Al Mahmoud, has underlined that the State of Qatar, under the leadership of Emir

H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, is always striving to achieve unity among countries and people, and calls for cooperation and solidarity between the Arab and African countries.

In order to achieve this goal, H H the Emir paid visits to several countries in East, South and West Africa to build broad partnerships in various fields and to support programs and development projects, the Speaker said in his speech before the Arab-African Economic Parliamentary Forum which kicked off in Rabat.

Al Mahmoud said that Qatar recognises the necessity of solving that the root causes and obstacles to achieving sustainable development and economic and political stability of the Arab and African regions, noting that Qatar has provided thousands of employment opportunities for young people and many projects to support development in a number of friendly and sisterly countries.

Meanwhile, the Advisory Council Speaker noted common challenges of instability, conflicts, wars, ignorance and poverty, which require cooperation in order to address the root causes of these problems through achieving food security, sustainable development, cooperation and integration between the Arab and African countries.

'As there was solidarity for political liberation, the efforts must be combined for economic liberalization and overcoming the colonial legacy that controls our economies, he said, calling for directing investments and exports to neighboring countries in the Arab and African regions.

The two-day Forum kicked off under the theme 'For the Construction of a Complementary Model of Regional Cooperation.
