ABU DHABI, 25th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, ADNOC, has honoured the vast contributions of its retirees to the growth and development of ADNOC. At an event to launch the ADNOC Pioneers alumni programme, ADNOC brought together more than 700 retirees in its first event in recognition of the company's retirees' contributions to the success of the company. In attendance were a number of current and former Directors and CEOs of ADNOC and its Group Companies.

Dr. Sultan bin Ahmad Sultan Al Jaber, Minister of State and ADNOC Group CEO, delivered a speech conveying the best wishes of the UAE leadership. He expressed the company's appreciation for the retirees' contributions to ADNOC and its keenness to create a platform to ensure continuous communication between the existing and former ADNOC family members.

"In line with the directives of the wise leadership and inspired by the vision of our Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan may God bless him to empower people and appreciate their efforts, and in conjunction with the Year of Zayed, we are pleased to welcome our retirees and ADNOC Pioneers who have spent many years building ADNOC and establishing its position as a leading player in the energy sector," Dr. Al Jaber said.

"Today, we honour your efforts and thank you for your dedication during your service to the company, and stress that we are a great family working at the service of the nation and the leadership. ADNOC's mission is a continuous journey in which we participate generation after generation."

Stressing that ADNOC considers its employees as an important and strategic asset for the nation, Dr. Al Jaber announced the launch of the ADNOC Pioneers programme, which aims to create a platform for engaging retirees and everyone who helped to build ADNOC.

The company will establish a council of retirees to serve as an advisory committee to propose and discuss initiatives with ADNOC's Human Capital and Administration Directorate. The council will create opportunities for retirees to continue building their capabilities and remain engaged and active in further contributing to ADNOC and the local community. Within the Directorate, the company has also established a specific section dedicated to retirement planning.

Ghannam Al Mazrouei, Director of the Human Capital and Administration Directorate at ADNOC, said; "ADNOC is truly grateful to have always been powered by a workforce of exceptional women and men. We proudly recognise our retirees through the ADNOC Pioneers programme. Although our retirees no longer work for ADNOC as employees, their knowledge, expertise and talents will continue to be valuable to our company and our nation."

During the event, ADNOC's strategy and plans focused on creating a more profitable upstream, a more valuable downstream and more sustainable and economical gas supply were highlighted. To deliver its strategy, ADNOC focuses on improving performance, enhancing efficiency and investing in human resources, while maintaining its focus on HSE and the safety of its assets.

The event featured a live broadcast displayed on the ADNOC headquarters façade of an inspiring message from the UAE's founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, which affirms the value of sincere work, "Every individual has to perform his duty. Man is mortal, but his work is not. Therefore, work is greater than wealth."

To further show its appreciation, ADNOC also presented a video at the event, which included interviews with a number of retirees sharing stories about their experience working at ADNOC and how it helped them in their retirement.
