ABU DHABI, 25th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The National Emergency and Crisis and Disasters Management Authority, NCEMA, in Abu Dhabi has launched a joint training exercise to manage the two coinciding events of serious fires and marine oil pollution, in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, along with other relevant ministries and federal and local authorities.

The "National Prevention 5/2018 Training," which is supervised and monitored by Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Hosny, Director-General of NCMA, aims to improve the level of readiness of relevant authorities in planning and managing emergencies, crises and disasters.

The three-day training exercise also aims to enhance the procedures of relevant authorities and test national emergency plans, as well as to raise the level of readiness of various working teams and train them in managing emergencies.

The training includes various liaison procedures, and national operations centre teams were assigned to manage the plans to counter serious fires and marine oil pollution.

The Monitoring Committee will document observations and improvement opportunities and will perform comparisons between the followed procedures and adopted plans to evaluate them.

NCEMA regularly conducts local and national training sessions, in cooperation and coordination with federal and local government partners, to assess the readiness of institutions and the community to face environmental, health and other risks related to their safety and security.
