(MENAFN- UkrinForm) The Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline is a purely political project, so Europe should define its political priorities.
ChiefCommercialOfficer of NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine Yuriy Vitrenko said this in a commentary to an Ukrinform correspondent in Strasbourg, where he discussed the threats of the Nord Stream 2 project implementation.
"Everyone should understand that the Nord Stream 2 is a political project. Therefore, it is very important that European politicians decide on their political priorities," Vitrenko said.
He noted that "if Europe really wants to support Ukraine and understand the threats coming from Russia in relation to this project, it should resist its implementation."
"We presented our arguments to the European partners: the Ukrainian route is reliable, more expedient, fully complies with all the European rules. Ukraine strictly observes all the European rules. It is the best route for the European market and European consumers," said the Naftogaz representative.
As the ChiefCommercialOfficerof NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine noted, the negotiations with the European companies are ongoing, the memorandum on partnership and cooperation with four European companies has been signed, testifying that Ukraine really operates under the European rules and is an open and reliable partner for Europe.
