Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Patel shot dead in Kashmir

Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Patel was shot dead today by terrorists in Rajpora area of South Kashmir.
Two of his personal security officers were also injured when terrorists attacked the car they were traveling in.
Patel succumbed to injuries on his way to a hospital. The two officers are meanwhile undergoing treatment.
Security forces have launched a search to nab the attackers, officials said.
The terrorists took their service rifles before fleeing
Details
Patel, who was the general secretary of the Pulwama wing of the PDP last year, had since shifted to Congress.
He was in his Scorpio when he came under attack. Afterwards, the terrorists fled with their service rifles.
Security forces have cordoned off the area now.
Police have registered a case in the murder of the Dangerpora Shadimarg resident and are probing the incident.
Patel had said that political workers were 'quivering with fear'
Interview
Last year, in an interview to NDTV, Patel had said that political workers are "quivering with fear."
When asked whose writ runs in J&K, he had refused to answer.
"I can tell you personally on the promise to not show it on the media. Showing it on the media will increase threat to my life," he had said.
