A crowded Saturday at Mulund station, Mumbai, turned unfortunate for a 56-year-old businessman, as he was pushed from the platform in front of an oncoming train.

A case of murder has been registered by the Kurla Government Railway Police (GRP).

As per a Mid-day report, a woman pushed the man from the platform for bumping into her. The woman was also joined by another man.

The deceased identified as Deepak Patwa boarded a train daily between 2 PM to 2:30 PM.

On Saturday, he accidentally bumped into the suspect and apologized for it, reports Mid-day. The woman fought with him and was aided by another male commuter. They pushed Patwa from Platform number 3 in front of the Asangaon local.

After the incident, both hurriedly left the spot.

"Deepak was not someone who would purposely bump into a woman. As per witnesses, he was pushed intentionally, and the [CCTV] footage confirms this," said Ajit Shah, Patwa's brother-in-law. He alleged the police delayed in procuring the CCTV footage into the suspicious death.


Police say hunt is on, hope to find accused soon

Kurla GRP Mahesh Balwantrao hoped to find the accused soon, and learn their version.

A case has been registered under IPC Sections 302 (punishment for murder) and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

20 police officers have been divided into four teams for the purpose. The police have also asked cobblers, and railways staffs to stay alert.
