UNICEF: Afghanistan water scarcity affects thousands children


(MENAFN) The UNICEF revealed 500,000 children in Afghanistan to have been threatened by water shortage that originated from lack of rainfall seen late last year as well as early 2018.

In its statement, the UNICEF raised concerns over the possibility 22 Afghan provinces might see their children significantly affected by the issue, with the lives of one million people endangered.

It further warned further two million people to might suffer from the matter within the upcoming few months.

It added "these areas have pre-existing high rates of malnutrition. Without adequate nutritious food and safe water for drinking, as well as for hygiene and sanitation, children's health will only worsen."
