Afghan: four die in bomb attack


(MENAFN) A provincial government spokesman declared that an anti-Taliban politician, and another three officials have died in an explosion in the country's northern province of Faryab.

Ahmad Jaweed Baidar confirmed: "Ghulam Farooq Qate and three Afghan Local Police (ALP) personnel were killed following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in village Sheerank, on outskirts of provincial capital Faryab city Monday night,"

The spokesman added that the incident happened when Qate's vehicle drover over the IED, while three other policemen were injured as well.

The politician, who died, was taking part of Jamiat-e-Islami Afghanistan political party, and a head of a pro-government militias group in the region as he had a major role in the battle against militants in Faryab and surrounding provinces.
