(MENAFN) A Pakistani official declared that police have detained a Muslim man for burning a Christian woman to death after rejecting his marriage proposal.
Police official Ijaz Shahid in eastern Punjab province confirmed that the suspect, Rizwan Gujar, has thrown gasoline at Asma Yaqub outside her house in the city of Sialkot and set her alight, then escaped the site.
The official added that Yaqub was hospitalized in the city of Lahore, but has died there.
Gujar admitted his crime and has been put in prison, waiting for trial, according to the official.
