UN chief denounces attack on Kabul vote centre


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned Sunday€™s deadly attack on a voter registration center in Afghanistan€™s capital.

At least 57 people were killed and nearly 120 others wounded in the massive bombing, claimed by the Islamic State. The terrorist group said Shiite €œapostates€ were the target

The culprits must be brought to justice, said the UN chief, who added: €œThey must not be allowed to succeed in deterring Afghan citizens from carrying out their constitutional right to take part in elections.€

In a statement issued by his spokesman Stephane Dujarric, Guterres extended condolences to the affected families and expressed solidarity with the Afghan government.
