(MENAFN- UkrinForm) G7 countries fully agree with Ukraine's stance on deployment of a peacekeeping mission in Donbas.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin said this following the Foreign Ministers' brunch within the framework of G7 Foreign Ministers' Summit in Toronto.
"When discussing format of a peacekeeping operation, we all agreed that we should follow the logic. First, basic security should be achieved (heavy weapons should be strictly controlled and not be used), then the control should be secured over the occupied territories following by the police component and preparations for the elections," Klimkin said.
He agreed that the details of a possible peacekeeping mission could be discussed, but "the concept preserving what Russia created there can't be accepted." "We understand that Russia is trying to leave its protectorate, it does not want to change it. On the contrary, Russia wants to strengthen and further promote it as a Trojan horse to destabilize and destroy us," the Ukrainian foreign minister stressed.
April 22, a three-day summit of the foreign and security ministers of G7 countries kicked off in Toronto, Canada.
