Minor fire in Dubai's Almas Tower brought under control

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The Dubai Civil Defence on Sunday brought under control a minor fire that had broken out in Almas Tower in Jumeirah Lake Towers.

The building was evacuated safely and no injuries have been reported, the Dubai Media Office said in a tweet.

Twitter lit up on Sunday afternoon after residents posted videos and photos of smoke coming out of the top of the tower.

Rushing to the building to put out the blaze, Civil Defence said that the fire had broken out in the pole or spire of the building.

Priya Bhatia, a resident of J2 Tower in JLT's Cluster J, told Khaleej Times: "I live in a building next to Almas Tower and I could see smoke billowing out from its pole. At3.40pm, I noticed the smoke getting less with some debris falling from the spire.

"The fire department and ambulance service immediately arrived at the scene."

One of the tallest towers in Dubai, Almas Tower is a 68-storey high skyscraper.
