(MENAFN) Several leading political scientists have suggested the US to be directly observing Cuban activities so as to benefit of its shift of power for a regime reform.
Research professor at the University of Havana's Center for United States and Hemispheric Studies, Luis Rene Fernandez indicated that "they are stalking, like wild beasts, because they think this is a moment of weakness in which they can attack."
It comes after Cuban President Raul Castro was done with his position after two terms, with Miguel Diaz-Canel selected as his successor.
Fernandez commented on the events, saying that "Fidel Castro is physically gone. They always thought that by killing him, the Cuban Revolution could disappear because he was evidently a factor of strength."
The academic then quoted former US President Thomas Jefferson saying that Cuba "would be the best addition to the union," a phase which clearly mirrored the view of the US to Cuba.
