World Health Day marked in Oman


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- The Ministry of Health (MoH), represented by the Health Education & Awareness Programmes Department, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO) organised an event to celebrate the 2018 World Health Day recently.

The theme of this year's World Health Day is 'Universal Health Coverage: Everyone, everywhere', under the slogan 'Health for All', stated a press release.

The event was held at Muscat Grand Mall under the auspices of H E Dr Ali bin Talib al Hinai, Undersecretary for Planning Affairs in the MoH.

Quoting the message of the acting regional director, Dr Jaouad Mahjour, Dr Akjemal Magtymova, WHO representative to the sultanate said, 'Universal health coverage is about ensuring access to essential quality care and financial protection. This not only enhances people's health and their life expectancy, it also protects countries from epidemics, reduces poverty, creates jobs, drives economic growth and enhances gender equality.'

World Health Day is celebrated every year on April 7.
