Palestinian engineer killed in Malaysia

(MENAFN) A Palestinian academic and engineer from Gaza was shot dead in Malaysia as he was heading to the mosque for prayers, according to local police.

Dr Fadi Mohammed al-Batash, 35, was allegedly hit by more than ten bullets fired by two people on a motorcycle, according to Gaza based news site Safa.

His family told Palestinian local media outlets that Mossad had executed Batash.

Mazlan said a recording of a closed-circuit television camera near the scene showed the two assailants waiting for about 20 minutes for the lecturer to emerge from the condominium.

"We believe the lecturer was their target because two other individuals walked by the place earlier unharmed. We will view the recordings of all the CCTV in the area to identify the suspects and get the registration number of the motorcycle," he said.

Malaysian authorities have begun an immediate investigation and said that it was treating the murder as an act of terrorism.
