Afghanistan- Annual Helmand River Poetic Session Held


(MENAFN- Daily Outlook Afghanistan) LASHKARGAH - Poets and writers from various provinces and Quetta city and Chaman border town of Balochistan province of Pakistan took part in the annual Helmand River poetry session in Lashkargah, the capital of Helmand province, last night.
Poets from Helmand, Zabul, Kandahar, Farah, Quetta, Chaman and other areas narrated their poetic verses on the occasion, where government officials were also present.
Helmand governor Hayatullah Hayat urged the poets to write exclusively on peace. He also called on the people of Afghanistan to fully participate in the Oct. 20 parliamentary and district council elections.
Hayat recited his poetic verse on the Helmand River before leaving the stage.
Speaking on the occasion, Helmand information and culture director Farid Ahmad Farhang said the poetic session brought along a message of peace. (Pajhwok)
