Pakistan- DGISPR vows traders activities will be restored in FATA


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) ISLAMABAD: Negotiations between traders of North Waziristan and Director General Inter Services Public Relations concluded the protest in Islamabad.

The DGISPR Asif Ghafoor and traders met in Islamabad where a contract was signed by Anjuman-e-Tajeran of North Waziristan and political administration. In the contract, it was decided that a meeting is scheduled on April 22 between GOC North Waziristan, Political Agent and DGISPR.

Under the contract, a committee will also be formed to thoroughly discuss the damages done to the traders and for provision of compensation. However, Assistant Political Officers will assist and follow the contract.

On this occasion, the DGISPR promised and explained that trade activities will be restored in FATA will be top priority now.

A few days earlier, thousands of tribesmen including shopkeepers and members of business community from North Waziristan protested in Islamabad against losses to their businesses during military operation in their region demanded compensation.

He said that brave tribes of FATA have achieved peace and stability after lot of hardships and sacrifices. Restoration of normal life after kinetic operation is part of clear-hold-build-transfer' strategy. State including security forces is committed to rehabilitate the affected population.

'We are through with challenges of clear phase after kinetic operations, hold & build in progress. It's our home, by working together we shall gradually bring back complete normalcy. It's time to be aware of inimical forces trying to create uncertainty but shall never success', said Asif Ghafoor.

He also said that affected NWA traders shall have a meeting with local civil- military and FATA secretariat representatives on 22 April to discuss genuine issues and way forward. Economic rehabilitation of tribes takes priority. Mainstreaming of FATA remains key to their empowerment & prosperity.
