Afghanistan- 'Reinforce defense forces to defeat insurgency'


(MENAFN- Afghanistan Times) AT Monitoring Desk-KABUL: In order to repress the insurgents, the NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg termed enabling and training the Afghan local forces as best option.

'The message now is that more important than deploying NATO troops in combat operations it is to enable local forces, train local forces to stabilize their own countries,' Stoltenberg said. 'It is better if we are able to train local forces, build local capacities, build local institutions, and enabling them to stabilize their own countries, and to fight terrorism themselves.'

At the same time, the ministry of defense backed training and equipping of Afghan security forces, considering it more effective in battleground against the insurgents.

'Up to the year 2020 and 2024, the Afghan security forces should stand by their own. Considering the date, of course we will have the capability till that time,' Muhammad Radmanish, ministry spokesman said.

After fully end to the NATO's combat mission in 2014—the Taliban insurgents tried level best by intensifying attack against Afghan security forces by underestimating their power. But since that, the Afghan security forces have given teeth-breaking response to the Taliban's attack with killing them in gigantic. The brave Afghan security forces already proved bitter taste not to Taliban militants, but to all insurgent outfits.
