(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) PESHAWAR (Pajhwok): The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa business community complains a drastic drop in trade between Pakistan and Afghanistan has adversely affected it.
Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Zahidullah Shinwari told reporters here on Wednesday Afghan traders had also suffered losses as a result of dwindling trade.
The requirement of quarantine by Plant and Protection Department had affected the import of fresh and dry fruits from Afghanistan, the SCCI chief said.
Shinwari added the imposition of regulatory duty on imports from Afghanistan had damaged on trade between the neighbours. In response to regulatory duty, Kabul has hiked taxes on imports from Pakistan.
Earlier, Chamber of Commerce and Industry officials in eastern Nangarhar province said trade between Afghanistan and Pakistan through Torkham crossing point had further declined.
