(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) FI\EROZKOH (Pajhwok) Three Independent Election Commission (IEC) employees and two policemen have been freed two day safter their abduction in western Ghor province, an official said on Thursday.
Mohammad Iqbal Nizami, police spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News unknown gunmen had kidnapped three workers of IEC along with two policemen in the Allahyar locality of the provincial capital.
He said the commission€™s employees and policemen were released as a result of mediation by tribal elders.€œThe Taliban also returned the police personnel€™s weapons to the elders but destroyed the IEC equipment.€
