Oman- Himachal Wing marks Himachal Day, Vaisakhi festival with enthusiasm


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Muscat- Himachal Day and Vaisakhi festival were recently celebrated at a farm house near Barka by the Himachal Wing of Indian Social Club Oman.

Himachal Pradesh came into existence as a chief commissioner's province by the integration of many princely states on April 15, 1948. Hence, this day is celebrated as 'Himachal Day'. Himachal Pradesh has made its place among the best states in India through the progressive and hard-working nature of its people. Vaisakhi is an important festival in the northern areas of India like Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana. The celebrations were attended by around 150 members of the Himachali community in Oman.

The gathering was welcomed by Himachal Wing convenor and co-convenor. The programme was anchored by the entertainment secretary of the wing. New members of Himachal Wing were introduced to the gathering. Relatives of wing members who are visiting Oman currently were honoured with mementos as per tradition and practice of the wing. Himachal Wing members participated in various cultural activities and games. The participants enjoyed the wonderful evening which came to an end with traditional Himachali folk songs and dances.
