Pakistan- Imran Khan names PTI lawmakers who sold votes in Senate elections


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) ISLAMABAD: In an unprecedented move in Pakistan's history, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf has decided to expel those parliamentarians who swapped their votes for money in Senate Elections.

In this regard, a list of names was released and show cause notice was also issued to 20 members of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly who violated party discipline in Senate Elections.

'We can bear the loss of taking out 20 MPAs from the party but we will never tolerate such people in the party', said Imran Khan while speaking at a press conference in Islamabad.

Those who sold their votes include Nargis Ali, Deena Naaz, Nagina Khan, Fouzia Bibi, Naseem Hayat, Sardar Idrees, Obaid Mayar, Zahid Durrani, Abdul Haq, Qurban Khan, Amjid Afridi, Arif Yousaf, Javed Naseem, Yasin Khalil, Faisal Zaman, Sami Alizay, Meraj Hamayun, Khatoon Bibi, Babar Saleem and Wajih Uz Zaman.

A charge sheet will be issued to the lawmakers to seek an explanation of their actions however their names will also be sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). According to an internal report, up to Rs40 million were offered to buy the votes in recent Senate elections.

Imran also appreciated the lawmakers who didn't indulge in horse-trading. He stated that the move was taken so he assures that the upcoming general elections are fair and transparent.

Earlier today, a list comprising names of PTI members who sold their conscience in Senate elections was completed and handed over to Imran Khan, he announced to give the verdict in a press conference.
