US Senate approves policy on infants in chamber

(MENAFN) US senators were confirmed to have approved of a new policy that gives authorization to members to appear at voting sessions in the chamber with their newborn babies.

The decision has been settled in the US Senate one week after Tammy Duckworth became the first senator to deliver a baby within the office.

The senate suggested how significant it was to become a model through implementing new policies that agree with families.

Illinois Democrat Ms Duckworth issued a statement, expressing gratitude for the new rule which was approved unanimously.

She said "I would like to thank my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, particularly those in leadership and on the rules committee, for helping bring the Senate into the 21st Century by recognising that sometimes new parents also have responsibilities at work."
