Macron confirms plans to visit Russia in May


(MENAFN- Trend News Agency ) French President Emmanuael Macron has confirmed his plans to pay a visit to Russia in May, TASS reported.

"Yes, I will go to St. Petersburg in May," he said in an interview with BFMTV on Sunday.

Macron was invited to have a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg Economic Forum in May.

Macron's visit to Russia is expected to continue dialogue that began in May 2017. Shortly after his election French president, Macron invited Putin to visit France. The two leaders met in Versailles in late May 2017 and the Russian president invited his French counterpart to attend the St. Petersburg Economic Forum. Macron's visit to Russia is scheduled for May 24-25.
