Dhahran, April 15 (Petra)-- His Majesty King Abdullah II met with European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini and discussed with her Jordan-EU cooperation and strategic partnership as well as a number of Middle East issues.
During the meeting, which was held on Sunday on the sidelines of the 29th Arab Summit in Dhahran, the King and Mogherini underlined the importance of reaching a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis to preserve the territorial integrity of the country and the unity of its people.
The meeting also touched on the peace process and the need to intensify international efforts to re-launch serious and effective negotiations between the Palestinians and Israelis on the basis of the two-state solution, leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
The King also underlined burdens the Kingdom holds due to the Syrian refugee crisis, as well as regional and international efforts to fight terrorism within a holistic strategy.
