Saudi Arabia, UN discuss relief, humanitarian issues

GENEVA, 5th April, 2018 (WAM) -- The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the United Nations have discussed a number of issues related to humanitarian and relief affairs, on the sidelines of the high-level international Pledging Conference on Yemen, being held in Geneva.

This came during a meeting between the Advisor of the Saudi Royal Court and General Supervisor of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres.

During the meeting, Dr. Al Rabeeah highlighted the Kingdom's efforts in providing relief and humanitarian assistance to affected peoples around the world. The centre has provided in the past 3 years assistance to 40 countries in four continents, especially Yemen, which has received 217 projects in various fields.

The UN Secretary-General, in turn, praised the humanitarian role being played by Saudi Arabia and its great support provided for UN Humanitarian Response Plan in Yemen for 2018.
