Aramco's Public listing could be in 2018

(MENAFN) The Saudi minister of energy announced that the highly-anticipating public listing of Saudi Aramco could happen this year.

Khalid Al-Falih told CNBC in an interview on Thursday that Aramco, the world's biggest oil company, await the right time for its initial public offering (IPO), pointing out that both the firm and the Saudi government are ready from a regulatory standpoint.

The possibility of the listing being carried out later still stands, and it is expected that it will begin in the Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul).

"I don't see 2018 as a necessary year to list unless it's optimum," said the Saudi minister, adding that "it is similar to what we've seen from every major economy. Every major economy is already looking at Aramco as a very attractive outlet for their investment."
