Qatar- Pakistan expats celebrate National Day

DOHA: To commemorate the Pakistan Day, the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Doha, yesterday organised a flag-hoisting ceremony at the Embassy building.

The flag was hoisted with National Anthem of Pakistan and the messages of President and Prime Minister of Pakistan on the occasion were readout by the Ambassador of Islamic Republic of Pakistan to Qatar Shahzad Ahmad.

Mamnoon Hussain, President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in his message said that 23rd March is an important landmark in the history of our nation.

'Today, we pay homage to the Father of the Nation Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, poet philosopher Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal and the other great leaders of the freedom movement who paved the way for the creation of Pakistan through their valiant struggle, determination and unparalleled sacrifices.

'Terrorism and militancy in the region during the last few decades have adversely affected Pakistan. The Pakistani nation has faced these challenges with unity and resilience. And this is enabling us to dismantle the last remaining remnants of militancy and usher in a new era of economic prosperity. The China Pakistan Economic Corridor and other mega development projects are a testimony to this reality, the President of Pakistan further said in the message.

A large number of Pakistanis from all walks of life attended the ceremony. The traditional breakfast was also served.

During the ceremony, guests from all walks of life interacted with each other and congratulated officers and staff of the Embassy on the National Day. They expressed their happiness and exchanged views with the Ambassador and other officers of the Embassy.

Celebrations of National Day are held all over the world on 23 March organised by Pakistani Embassies and Pakistan Cultural and Community Organizations. On the occasion, Pakistanis expressed their solidarity and love for their homeland.
